Day 11- Maun to Okavango DeltaAfter our morning Breakself we self drive for 1hrs 30mins drive heading to the Delta with our Tents and our supplies for two nights and three days .In the Delta its very Natural they a no standard bath room of which you a not going to shower .your local Guides will show you very safe places where you can swim. When we arrive at the Pole stations the Polers a going to load our Camping material into the Dag out Canoe they a very experienced. The Okavango Delta is one of the largest inland deltas in the world, made up of an intricately woven network of crystal clear channels and lagoons lined with papyrus reeds and palm fringed islands. It is a unique wetland that not only supports and sustains a huge diversity of wildlife, providing excellent game viewing throughout the year, but it is beautiful and awe inspiring in itself .Whilst the emphasis of a Botswana safari is often on large mammals, of which there is a prolific amount in the Okavango, there are many other specialized animals and birds to be enjoyed. The islands and lagoons of the delta are a haven for birds and aquatic life - as many as 580 bird species have been recorded in Botswana and more than 80 fish species identified in the Okavango. Once the royal hunting grounds to the Ndebele warrior-king Mzilikazi, Hwange was set aside as a National Park in 1929. The park covers an area of over 14,600 sq km and is particularly known for its elephant populations and its concentrated with lots of animal species and amazing Bird life. Overnight in the Park Campsite, Main Camp.Day 17 Drive from Hwange to Vic Falls after morning game around 11 and sleep over at Ilala Lodge. Some optional activities there like Heli flight, sunset cruise etc.Day 18Breakfast and fly out from Vic Falls Airport
We will be camping in the Chobe National Park in Exclusive Wilderness sites ie HATAB or BOGA sites, with no other campers nearby. If the sites are fully booked we will be forced to use the public site at Ihaha this is very rare though.
Included is all camping equipment including spacious walk in tents with a bed roll and bedding (mattress, sheet duvet and pillow). Park fees, food, mineral water and house wine with dinner are supplied. Dinner is a two course meal and cosists of hearty ‘Bush Cuisine” cooked on open fires.
Excluded are soft drinks, beers, visas if necessary and items of a personal nature like towels and toiletries. All trips will have a backup team, including a cook and minimal/no participation is required. Ablutions consist of rustic open air bucket showers and long drop style toilets. We attempt to work two departures weekly: ie on Tuesdays and Fridays. In the event of groups of over 6 these set days are flexible and we can negotiate discounts for groups of over 12 pax.

Jeans or safari trousers for the cool evenings and mornings
A fleece or warm sweater for those early morning game drives. A good pair of Sunglasses
Sun block, a hat and insect repellent are essential!
Binoculars and a camera with lots of film! For digital ensure batteries are charged- there is no electricity in the bush (we can charge via the cigarette lighter 12V only)
A headlamp or torch is vital.
If you enjoy a whisky or the like, you are welcome to bring a bottle along to sip by the Campfire.
A towel, and your own toiletries (ladies please remember there are no shops for emergencies)
Any medication if necessary, we do have a medical aid box with the basics.
There will be times when you are exposed to the sun so a thin long sleeve shirt may come in handy.
The early morning drives will be very cold in the winter months -so layers are best to keep out the chill in the back of the game drive vehicle. (June,Jul,Aug)
Please attempt to travel as light as possible- space is always an issue on Safari. Last but not least, a sense of humour …………this is Africa!!
